Mayor Menino’s R.O.C.K.S.  and the NORTH END MUSIC & PERFORMING ARTS CENTER collaborate to offer FREE Summer Interactive Music Workshops every Thursday Morning from 10:30- 11:30am. Children and Adults of all Ages are encouraged to attend. Each week we hope you will learn something new about Music and/or Theater and we encourage you to find your own creative musical self in the process!

July 14th-Musical Theater & Opera Workshop. Do you remember all of your childhood fairytales?

July 21st– ROCK with R.O.C.K.S- Rock Instrumentals Brian Bernhard, Jeremy Sarzana, and Scott Boni demonstrate         the difference between Rock and Jazz! Oh…and can you Improvise? Instrument petting zoo to follow

July 28th– Mozart brought to Boston! Can you translate classic opera into modern day life? Acting and movement games included. Performances from Le Nozze di Figaro and the Magic Flute! Piano petting zoo to follow.

August 4th–  “Can you stop the beat?!”  Meredith Pyle (Actress) and Hilary Denison(Dancer) teach two versions of Hairspray’s “You can’t stop the beat”. Kids will learn choreography and perform for each other. Special Music Theater performance from Pyle.

August 11th– Professional Boston-based Red-line Brass Quartet to perform interactive concert of pieces written for Brass Instruments (Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone) Instrument petting zoo to follow.

August 18th– African Drumming with Zumix, and Fred Van Ness singing African Spirituals

August 25th– Irish & Folk Song Day- Dana Price- Fiddle player and violinist leads violin demonstration. What makes it Folk?! Folk Songs sung, and Folk Dance taught.

Sept 1st (Wed AM)-  Pop/Contemporary Music Day with Brian Bernhard!
