NEMPAC Music Theatre Troupe Presents: The Sound of Music

May 17, 2018

Our Spring Music Theatre Troupe production of “The Sound of Music” engages students with the work of Rodgers and Hammerstein, specially adapted for young people to perform. The Getting to Know You version that we are producing is based on the original stage musical from 1959. It’s full of all of your “favorite things”! From singing nuns to yodeling goats, this 70 minute adaptation is fun for the whole family. Travel with us on Marias journey to the Von Trapp household and get carried away with the beautiful music and engaging story.
Because this musical is chalk full of amazing songs, dances and scenes, the students have been working incredibly hard and are training in voice, dance and acting. Putting on a musical is fully collaborative and they are learning to work together as an ensemble, enhance their performance skills and express their creativity. They are building their confidence learning to be comfortable performing in front of an audience.
