About Daniel Raney

Dan Raney hails from Mansfield, MA and was born into a musical family with a father who is a professional classical trumpeter and mother who loves music. He began playing piano at a young age and started trumpet soon after. However, he always gravitated towards the basslines in music and began playing bass as a teenager. This led to his acceptance at New England Conservatory where he received both his Bachelor and Masters of Music in jazz bass performance. While at the conservatory, he was also able to study voice and songwriting with innovative vocalist Dominique Eade. Dan is a multi-instrumentalist and enjoys teaching a variety of instruments ranging from guitar to drums. In addition to teaching, he writes his own music and gigs with a number of bands in Boston performing hip-hop, jazz, and rock.
