DESCRIPTION:NEMPAC Opera Project’s 11th Season\nProgram Book \nNEMPAC Opera Project presents with the Boston Festival Orchestra\nInto the Woods \nThis year\, for our 11th Season\, NEMPAC Opera Project is thrilled to present Stephen Sondheim’s “Into the Woods” in collaboration with the Boston Festival Orchestra\, as they kick off their 2nd Season!\n“This is a first of many kinds for us – the first musical we have produced\, the first collaboration with the ground-breaking Boston Festival Orchestra\, and our first performance at the Boston Center for the Arts. We cannot think of a more fitting way for our organization to return to live audience\, fully-staged performances than with a show that asks for artists from all backgrounds in the performing arts: theatre\, dance\, instrumentalists\, and both musical theatre and opera singers. It’s a statement of persevering through the unknown with a united goal of a better tomorrow and the eternal quest of “Happ(ier) Ever After”. \nALEXANDRA DIETRICH | Artistic Director of the NEMPAC Opera Project \nAlyssa Wang\, Artistic Director of the Boston Festival Orchestra and the Conductor for this show remarks\, “It is with great pride that we look forward to our collaboration with the inspiring NEMPAC Opera Project! During these arduous times\, we appreciate more than ever the chance to come together in the name of music\, across multiple areas of performing arts\, to create magic in front of a live audience. We hope that you will join us in June so that you can share in our collective joy and be amazed by the mastery\, imagination\, and insight of Mr. Sondheim.” \nALYSSA WANG | Artistic Director of the BOSTON FESTIVAL ORCHESTRA and Conductor \nTo be able to dedicate this planned season to Mr. Sondheim is a blessing to his memory and to the gift of his canon. The performances will be held at the Plaza Theatres at the Boston Center for the Arts on June 16th and June 18th\, 2022 at 7:30 pm.\nNEMPAC Opera Project is a proud member of the Black Opera Alliance and is committed to casting and hiring policies that are inclusive and do not discriminate based on race\, gender\, sexual orientation\, cultural identity\, age\, or disability. We are excited to announce our new partnership for next year’s production with the Boston Festival Orchestra\, which will be conducted by BFO’s Artistic and Music Director Alyssa Wang. \n“We are delighted to be performing with the Boston Festival Orchestra in collaboration this upcoming. With a smash hit 1st season in the summer of 2021\, the Boston Festival Orchestra highlighted the same values of the NEMPAC Opera Project: featuring the amazing talent of Boston Performers and making professional performances accessible to All.
