All families are welcome to the first ever, NEMPAC family night, July 18th on the Prado! The night will be a celebration of families, music and the rich historical culture we have right here in the North End! The night will begin at 5:30 pm, and will include FREE kids activities and a great kids concert starring kid performers!

The North End Historical Society will have a giant puzzle of a historical photo of Boston! Kids can come by and work on the puzzle and guess the picture on the puzzle! We will also have fun ‘history of Boston’ trivia for kids.
The Old North Church will be keeping our colonial chocolate shop and colonial print shop open. Captain Jackson’s Colonial Chocolate Shop and The Print Shop of Edes and Gill. Basic info about both can be found here: http://oldnorth.com/site/tours-ticketing/new-attractions/
The Paul Revere House: 18th century games and hats! Get ready to have some fun, just like Paul Revere and his family! Make your own tricorn hat and then wear it while you learn to play games popular since the 1700s.
Presenting our “Pop up Piano”: NEMPAC, in collaboration with The Celebrity Series of Boston will be part of the 2013, Pop-Up Piano” initiative. Boston will receive worldwide recognition for this initiative through the “Play Me, I’m Yours” festival, which invites the public to engage with music in their urban environment. All kids who attend the July 18th are welcome to come watch our artist, Giovanni Decunto paint the piano!

7:00 pm: Watertown Children’s Theatre voice students and NEMPAC PMI students
7: 30 pm : Dudamel Brass Band- Headliner

Our feature ensemble for the evening will be the Dudamel Brass Band. Here is some information about them:
Conservatory Lab Charter School is the only Boston preK-8 school that offers a project-based, music-infused, interdisciplinary academic curriculum that deepens students’ appreciation of the role of music in the world and promotes opportunities for students to create, perform and achieve scholastic benchmarks and provides the El Sistema approach to music instruction. Conservatory Lab developed and utilizes a new educational model called Learning Through Music. Music is not only taught in music class. Music is infused across the academic curriculum through a focused, daily block of interdisciplinary Learning Through Music expeditions. The school’s mission is to use this innovative model to reach children from all backgrounds to help them achieve academic, creative and social success. Students enter by lottery. There are no auditions, entrance tests or fees of any kind.
Dudamel Brass represents the brass section of Conservatory Lab’s top orchestra, the Dudamel Orchestra (named after the conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Gustavo Dudamel) These brass players, some of whom are in their first year of study are between the ages of 9 and 12. This year, they have had a number of opportunities to collaborate with musicians from the Landmarks Orchestra, Pro Arte Orchestra and the Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, in addition to performing in a variety of settings from street corners in Brighton Center to recital halls at The Boston Conservatory.
