We have great entertainment ahead! Join us on Friday, May 17th at 5 pm or Saturday, May 18th at 1 pm at Improv Asylum on Hanover Street in Boston and be ready to be captivated by NEMPAC Music Theatre Troupe’s production of Getting to Know…Once Upon a Mattress, a musical comedy and upbeat story that teaches to never judge a book by its cover.
Our Music Theatre Troupe production of “Once Upon a Mattress” captivates students with the work of Rodgers & Hammerstein, by Mary Rodgers (music), Marshal Barer (lyrics), and Dean Fuller & Jay Thompson (book) specially adapted for young people to perform. The original play was written as an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Princess and the Pea, and became a popular choice for drama programs and community theatre groups.
Mary Rodger’s classic Once Upon a Mattress is a delightful musical comedy that is sure to become a fan favorite! Because this musical combines humor, wonderful songs, dances and scenes, the students have been working with great focus by training in voice, dance and acting. Putting on a musical is a collaborative process that requires students to work together as an ensemble, enhance their performance skills and express their creativity, as they build their confidence and become comfortable performing in front of an audience.
