The North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) is happy to announce a brand new partnership with the Improv Asylum. The two organizations will collaborate to offer a Youth Improv Class in our upcoming winter session for children ages 7-13 that will be led by staff from both organizations. Kelly Dooley from Improv Asylum will act as lead teacher, assisted and coordinated by Allie Meek, the Music Theatre Program Director at NEMPAC. The class will begin in January and be held at the Improv Asylum Black Box Theatre on Saturdays from 1-2pm and will focus on basic improv games with an emphasis on creativity and collaboration. The Improv Asylum is also providing NEMPAC with a performance space for our Spring Music Theatre Troupe’s performance of “Seussical Kids”, and our Winter Black Box Theatre Program’s performance of “Shakespeare in 30 Minutes”.

Both NEMPAC and the Improv Asylum are committed to producing quality art performances, programming and arts education for the local community and are excited to collaborate on this exciting offering! The combined resources of both programs will truly make for an inspired and educational experience for our students.

“Improv Asylum has been rooted in the North End of Boston for the last eighteen years, and while we’ve had a training center geared toward adults, we’re excited for the opportunity to work with the youth of this neighborhood and throughout the entire city. We’re thrilled to be partnering with NEMPAC to provide these classes” – Jeremy Brothers, Improv Asylum Artistic Director

“We’ve been so appreciative of the theatre space which the Improv Asylum has generously allowed us to produce our children’s musical in for the past five years. We are looking forward to deepening our partnership and collaborating on a new youth program offering suitable to young actors!” – NEMPAC Ex. Director, Sherri Snow
