NEMPAC Unveils Fall 2021 Classes and Ensembles for All Ages: Pilot Programs, Studio Access Perks, and 20% Discount for PMI Students
We believe that we are all musicians and performers.
Here at NEMPAC, our community music school serves artists of all ages and abilities—from the toddler and parents coming to Family Music Makers to the senior member of our community taking piano lessons for the first time. We couldn’t be more excited to unveil our fall 2021 lineup of classes and ensembles, complete with pilot programs, studio access perks, and a 20% discount on select offerings for students enrolled in private music instruction.
Pilot Programs at 50 Tileston Street
This autumn, we’re piloting several new programs at our recently opened state-of-the-art music center on Tileston Street, including Songwriting and Make a Beat: Music Producing. Students enrolled in the fall 2021 cohorts of these two pilot programs will pay a 20% reduced tuition.
Crafted for youth in grades four through seven, Songwriting will simulate a studio environment for students and create a collaborative atmosphere that immerses them in lyric writing concepts and motivic development. Students will put their skills to the test throughout the course and write a minimum of one original song by its end.
Make a Beat: Music Producing will be held within the music lab at our facility on Tileston Street. Two cohorts within the pilot program (one for grades three through five and another for grades six through eight) will learn the tools of the music technology trade. From digital audio workstations to iMovie to Soundtrap, a variety of software will also be taught for students to develop their fluency in the language of music technology. A student showcase will provide class participants with an opportunity to share their original tracks at the end of the course.
Additional pilot programs at Tileston Street include Kids Vocal Discovery, Music Tech Saturdays, NEMPAC Vocal Ensemble, Teen Keyboard, Adult Keyboard, NEMPAC Chamber Ensemble, and NEMPAC Rock Band Ensemble.
Studio Access Perks
Did you know that NEMPAC offers private music instruction for those 18-plus, as well as classes and ensembles designed specifically for adults? This fall, one of these adult classes comes with studio access perks.
Housed within the third-floor keyboard lab of our new state-of-the-art facility on Tileston Street, Adult Group Keyboard will serve as the perfect avenue for anyone interested in trying this instrument for the first time, or anyone who previously studied it, but is seeking an opportunity to dive back in.
We’ll offer two sessions for Adult Group Keyboard. The first session will be held on Thursday afternoons from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. for community members aged 18-plus. The second session will include a social hour afterward and be offered on Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m. for community members aged 21-plus.
And while we’re on the topic of adult classes and ensembles, we invite those ages 18-plus in our NEMPAC family to enroll in our community music school. In addition to group keyboard, we’re also offering jazz dance and group ukulele. Here’s a snapshot of these other adult offerings:
Adult Ukulele
Mondays from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. beginning on September 27, 2021
50 Tileston Street, North End
We’d argue that ukulele is one of the best starter instruments around! During this six-week course, you’ll learn the ins and outs of the ukulele—from how to strum the instrument to how to play chords—in a fun group setting.
All That Jazz: Adult Dance Class
Tuesdays from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. beginning on September 28, 2021
9 Hull Street, North End
From Broadway to contemporary to commercial, one jazz “flavor” will take center stage during each class in this eight-week session, giving you a firsthand experience of this genre’s richness of style and variation.
As adults, the hustle and bustle of everyday responsibilities often get in the way of pursuing hobbies or fulfilling dreams we had as kids. Did you participate in music or singing lessons as a child, only to put them on the backburner as an adult? Has your heart always been tugging at you to learn a new instrument or take an arts class?
The time is now!
Ensemble Programs Offer a 20% Discount for PMI Students
We’re also offering a 20% discount to students enrolled in NEMPAC private music instruction who sign up for our ensembles. This fall, we’re proud to offer three distinct ensemble options: NEMPAC Vocal Ensemble, NEMPAC Rock Band Ensemble, and NEMPAC Chamber Ensemble.
Both NEMPAC Chamber Ensemble and NEMPAC Rock Band Ensemble are audition-based programs, and students must have been studying their instrument for one year. Though the NEMPAC Vocal Ensemble is not audition-based, there is still a required vocal placement audition before rehearsals start.
NEMPAC Vocal Ensemble will equip students in grades three through eight with practical techniques, as well as music-reading and sight-sighting skills. Private vocal or private vocal/piano students are eligible for a 20% tuition discount when they register for this ensemble group.
NEMPAC Rock Band Ensemble will unite the next generation of rock stars in grades four through eight for skill development and performance. Last but not least, NEMPAC Chamber Ensemble will empower solo artists in grade five and above to come together as a collective sound as they grow their music and technical skills in a group setting.
