A native of Toronto, violinist Sarah Ryu is an active performer and educator in both Canada and the United States. She was featured as a soloist with Orchestra London in “Last Night of the Proms” series, Kitchener-Waterloo Chamber Orchestra, Toronto Sinfonietta Orchestra, London Community Orchestra, Camp Musical des Laurentides Festival Orchestra, and was broadcast live on Toronto’s Classical 96.3FM radio station. In past summers, Sarah has participated at the Banff Centre, Heifetz International Music Institute, Domaine Forget, and “Cursos Superiores de Musica” in Malaga, Spain.
Her teachers include James Buswell, David Zafer, Irene Tandberg and she has worked with Midori, John Heiss, Gunther Schuller, and members of Juilliard, Guarneri, Borromeo, St. Lawrence, and Penderecki String Quartets.
Sarah is a recipient of “Beneficent Society Scholarship” at New England Conservatory, as well as “Peter Chandler Memorial Award” for leadership, musical excellence, and contribution to the arts community in London, Ontario. Other achievements include awards from Canadian Music Competition and Ontario Music Festivals Association.
Sarah earned her Bachelor of Music degree in Violin Performance from New England Conservatory and currently resides in Boston, MA.
