SUMMARY:Jazz in the Park - Samuel Batista Quartet
DESCRIPTION:Samuel Batista is a Panamanian saxophonist\, composer\, and educator based in the United States. \nBatista has performed internationally as a sideman with artists including Rubén Blades\, Alain Mallet\, Oscar Stagnaro\, Mark Walker\, and Billy Cobham\, and has appeared at major venues and festivals such as Carnegie Hall\, the Montreal Jazz Festival\, the Panama Jazz Festival\, and the Kriol Jazz Festival. His collaborations also include performances with Kim Plainfield\, Miguel Bosé\, and Totó la Momposina\, among others across the global music scene. As a recording artist\, he is featured on projects including Panama United (2019) and Alain Mallet’s Mutt Slang series. \nA committed educator\, Batista has served on faculty at the Danilo Pérez Foundation and the New England Conservatory. He holds a Master’s degree in Global Jazz from the Berklee Global Jazz Institute and a Bachelor’s degree in Performance and Jazz Composition from Berklee College of Music\, both earned on full scholarships. DESCRIPTION:Kristi Scaccia is a French horn performer\, educator\, and ensemble leader whose work bridges classical excellence with contemporary collaboration. A Florida native\, she holds degrees in Horn Performance from Florida State University and the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana in Lugano\, where she studied with renowned artists David Johnson and Alessio Allegrini. \nKristi has performed internationally with ensembles including Orchestra Fiati della Svizzera Italiana and the Lugano Chamber Orchestra\, with appearances in Vatican City and across Europe. Her versatile career spans orchestral\, chamber\, and cross-genre projects\, including recent collaborations blending horn with electric bass. DESCRIPTION:Zahili Gonzalez Zamora is a Cuban-born pianist\, composer\, bandleader\, arranger\, and educator. Raised in Manzanillo\, she began piano studies at age six and graduated from Cuba’s National School of Music. Now based in the United States\, her artistic identity is deeply shaped by her Cuban heritage and immigrant experience. \nHer career has taken her across Canada\, Southeast Asia\, and the U.S.\, cultivating a global musical voice rooted in Afro-Cuban traditions and modern jazz.
