Charlestown Working Theatre - Community Partnership with NEMPAC

The North End Music & Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) and the Charlestown Working Theater (CWT) are now in their 8th year of community arts partnership.

The partnership began in January 2015 with NEMPAC’s desire to expand its private music instruction program into Charlestown, which not only expanded creative opportunities for all ages and abilities to take music lessons but also provided more work opportunities for music educators in Boston.

The collaboration grew in September 2016 when NEMPAC’s Musical Theatre Troupe program conjoined with CWT’s long-standing Youth Holiday Musical Program. Their first collaborative production was Elf Jr., which held four performances in December 2016 at the theater. The production featured 40 local youth artists-in-training between the ages of 6 and 12 and several teen apprentices.

Over the years, NEMPAC has increased programming on-site at CWT due to community demand. Today, it hosts private music instruction and youth musical theatre classes on-site six days a week and continues to collaborate on the annual Holiday Musical, along with other various performances and recitals throughout the year.

NEMPAC is proud to partner with SOMA Yoga in the North End of Boston to enrich the lives of youth through this health & wellbeing ‘Yoga to Music’ program.

NEMPAC is proud to partner with Seven Hills Pasta to provide pasta making classes for both youth age learners and adult learners.  At each of these events we also provide live music from some of our esteemed artists.
