The PAC Recycled Beats
Charlestown: Fridays at 4:30pm
Age: 10-14
Fall registration opens June 8th!
This is a 16-week class that ends in January.
Recycled Beats invites students ages 10–14 to explore rhythm, creativity, and ensemble performance through hands-on music-making using everyday household objects. In this fun and energetic group class, students will discover how common items can be transformed into instruments while building confidence, collaboration, and foundational percussion skills.
Students will learn basic rhythm patterns, listening skills, coordination, and ensemble playing through group performances using “instruments” such as 5-gallon buckets, soda can shakers, trash cans, and other recycled materials. Through guided instruction, creative exercises, and collaborative rehearsals, students will develop teamwork, musical communication, and performance skills while exploring music that reflects their interests and ideas.
Class time includes a balance of rhythm activities, ensemble rehearsal, creative experimentation, and group collaboration to help students stay engaged and connected through music-making. Throughout the session, students will work together to prepare several songs for a final community performance celebrating their creativity and hard work.
The fall session runs September 18 – January 22, 2027 in Charlestown.
