CALL FOR APPLICANTS: GERALDINE MARSHALL SCHOLARSHIP FUND AT NEMPAC
The North End Music and Performing Arts Center (NEMPAC) is honored to continue to offer the Geraldine Marshall Scholarship, awarding local North End children or teens under the age of 18 with a full-year scholarship for music lessons or an arts enrichment program of their choice at NEMPAC.
The Geraldine Marshall Scholarship Fund is entering its ninth year and continues to preserve the legacy of a woman who loved children and the arts.
The Scholarship was established by Geraldine’s son, Representative Aaron Michlewitz. Ms. Marshall, who passed away nine years ago at the age of 68, was born in Dorchester in 1946, moved to the North End at the age of 21 and settled here for almost 50 years before her passing.
This past June, State Rep. Michlewitz hosted the annual North End Cornhole Classic to support the fund. The event continues to generate much support from neighborhood businesses and community members who help us to continue offering youth music scholarships.
Students or parents of children or teens interested in applying for the Marshall Scholarship or any of NEMPAC’s other needs-based scholarships (open to residents of ANY neighborhood) should complete and submit an application available here, at www.nempacboston.org/educational-programs/tuition-assistance/ or by contacting 857-239-9997. Completed applications are due no later than Wednesday, August 30th, 2023. Award decisions will be made and notified by September 11th, 2023.
NEMPAC is also proud to award between 25-30% of its annual program revenue back to students in need through our most recently revised tuition assistance program, which supports NEMPAC’s goals to ensure our programming is accessible to ALL. Requests for Fall are also available online and open through August 30th – available in English, Mandarin, and Spanish, and linked here.
