About Michael Prentky

Michael Prentky attended New England Conservatory for a Bachelor's degree in Jazz Performance on trombone while completing their Music-In-Education program and is now pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts there. He has been a freelance trombonist and educator in Boston for 9 years. Michael most actively performs with Mozambican funk band Kina Zoré, but also plays with Balkan-influenced group Sarma Brass Band, musical pit orchestras, jazz groups, wedding bands, and appears on many albums as a studio musician. Michael has taught people from ages 5 to 80, in private lessons and group classes. He teaches trumpet, trombone, tuba, general music, improvisation, music theory, composition, and arranging. In lessons, students build a foundation in instrumental technique and apply that to learning music that is most exciting to them.
