Chris Schroeder, Trumpet
Boston-based musician and educator, Chris Schroeder is a catalyst for social change through music, using his experience as a trumpeter to connect with and inspire young musicians and bring communities together.
In addition to his work at NEMPAC, he conducts the wind ensembles for Conservatory Lab Charter School and is the Music Director for the Cape Cod Youth Symphony. Since 2012, Schroeder has presented at numerous conferences throughout the United States on El Sistema, music-infused curriculum, and best practices for creating and sustaining music programs. In 2013, Schroeder was recognized as a Top 10 Finalist for “Best of US” national search to help identify and celebrate the unsung heroes that make America great.
Driven to provide an opportunity for young musicians to perform master works by celebrated composers, Schroeder has arranged and orchestrated a body of works for youth wind ensembles and orchestras. He has also composed and arranged music for numerous professional music organizations and institutions, including the Charles River Wind Ensemble, Harvard, MIT, and El Sistema programs in Boston, Apregio Peru, and Venezuela.
As a freelance trumpet player, Schroeder has performed with local orchestras including the Concord Symphony, Indian Hill Pops Orchestra, Neponset Valley Brass Quintet and the Brookline Symphony. Prior to this, he performed at Walt Disney’s Magic Kingdom Resort in Orlando, Florida.
A former student of Steve Emery at The Boston Conservatory, where he received his master’s degree in trumpet performance, Mr. Schroeder has collaborated with Ben Wright, Roy Poper, Ray Mase and Terry Everson.
