Kids Piano Discovery (Full Year and 10 Week Programs)

In this group instruction setting (between 3 – 5 students), our youngest musicians in grades K2-1 will receive individualized attention in a group setting – learning basic piano skills and music theory through musical enrichment activities that incorporate hands-on instrument playing, movement, arts and crafts, singing, and rhythm games. Students will learn finger numbers and patterns, identify quarter and half notes, and basic piano etiquette and how to apply it to the keyboard! The class will consist of warm-ups and our hello song, musical show and tells, a musical enrichment activity, the keyboard lesson of the day, stretch breaks and transitions, and a goodbye song.

Fridays from 3:25 – 4:10 p.m 

Grade: K2 – 1

This is a great program for students who want a taster 10-week introduction to musicality through the keyboard! If your student is ready to commit to more than 10-weeks, our 30-week program expands what is learned in our 10-week class to gain greater musical knowledge and understanding through the exploration of the keyboard, while learning basic piano skills through specific musical games and activities.

Class Outcomes: Basic Theory, Finger Numbers, and ABC’s of Music
Students will be able to:
Identify quarter and half notes and how to apply them to keyboard
Identify notes of the bass and treble clef and how to apply it to keyboard
Understand piano etiquette specific to unit 1
Properly touch and treat the keyboard
Stand at the keyboard with listening ears when other students are playing
Identify and use finger numbers
Understand basic music theory concepts of rhythm, tempo, meter, and dynamics

In this FULL YEAR group instruction setting (between 3 – 5 students), musicians in grades K2-1 will receive individualized attention in a group setting – learning basic piano skills and music theory through musical enrichment activities that incorporate hands-on instrument playing, movement, musical related arts and crafts, singing, and rhythm games. In the first half of the year, students will learn finger numbers and patterns, identify quarter and half notes along with other basic music theory concepts, while in the second half of the year, students will learn how to sit at the piano and play beginner songs with both hands! The class will consist of warm-ups and our hello song, musical show and tells, a musical enrichment activity, the keyboard lesson of the day, stretch breaks and transitions, and a goodbye song.

This is a great program for students who aren’t quite ready for the private lessons and want to gain greater musical knowledge and understanding through the exploration of the keyboard, while learning basic piano skills through specific musical games and activities. Not quite ready to commit to 30-weeks? Try out our 10-week taster program, that focuses on the skills introduced in the first half of this class.

For full year classes or ensembles, students have the option to drop after the class or ensemble’s Second Class for a 50% credit of the first payment. After that point, no refund or credit will be given.

Required Instrument: Students must have at minimum a 32-key mini keyboard (a Casio SA-46 or similar) and are expected to spend time practicing at home!
