Make a Beat II: Music Producing & Songwriting (FULL YEAR PROGRAM)

Wednesdays from 3:25 - 4:25 p.m.

Grades/Age: 4 - 6

Registration Closed. Check Back In June for 24/25 Registration

This FULL YEAR, 30-week intermediate level beat making and producing course is open to students who took at least one session of our beginner level Make a Beat class last year. Students will continue to hone their beat-making skills skills through digital audio workstations like Soundtrap and garage band. The year will be broken up into units of keyboard midi-study, intermediate level beats, harmony, and melodies creation, and culminating in the final unit of lyric writing and songwriting. By the end of the year, students will be able to identify different components and parts of an ‘ABA FORM’ song and the general process of lyric writing. They will focus on using these tools for expressivity through metaphors, rhymes, allegory, and alliterations as well as learning different production and mixing skills to create dynamic backing tracks to their songs with lyrics, culminating in a final performance in June.

Prerequisite: Offering open to students who have taken at least one session of our 10-week Make a Beat in the 2022-2023 year or with equivalent experience.

For full year classes or ensembles, students have the option to drop after the class or ensemble’s Second Class for a 50% credit of the first payment. After that point, no refund or credit will be given.
