One of our private instruction parents, Anne Occhipinti, recently donated Opera scores used by Famous Spanish Opera Singer, Lucrezia Bori. After Bori’s death in 1960, her secretary Grazzini passed the scores to Occhipiati’s grandmother, Ann Gerisch. Gerisch worked for a foundation called the Bagby Foundation which organized benefit concerts to help support retired musicians in their later years.
Bori sang her debut in Rome in 1908 and continued on to sing at the Metropolitan Opera from 1910- 1936. She sang a total of 654 times. She was famous for her role performances of Manon in Massenet’s Opera, Mimi in La Boheme, and Violetta in La Traviata.
NEMPAC teachers and performers, Sherri Snow, Rebecca Rapaport- Cole, and Rachel Carpentier are very excited to be able to study from the same scores Bori used throughout her inspirational career.
