The annual Holiday Show, co-presented by Charlestown Working Theater and NEMPAC, returned this December for its much-anticipated 9th year, bringing warmth, creativity, and holiday cheer to the stage with Tales from the Snowkeep Library. A beloved seasonal tradition for families and the community alike, this year’s production once again showcased the incredible talent and imagination of young performers while celebrating the magic of storytelling.
Under the thoughtful and energetic direction of Katie McGoff, students ages 7–12 took to the stage over the first two weekends of December, captivating audiences with a festive tale set inside a hidden, snow-dusted library. Tales from the Snowkeep Library followed a spirited adventure filled with curiosity, courage, and wonder—perfectly capturing the joy and mystery of the holiday season. The young cast brought the story to life with enthusiasm and heart, earning smiles, laughter, and well-deserved applause from packed houses throughout the run.
Adding an extra layer of holiday sparkle, Musical Director Michael Semanic led the cast through a delightful lineup of Christmas classics, each reimagined to fit the whimsical world of the Snowkeep Library. Audience favorites included lively renditions of “Jingle Bell Rock,” a mischievous take on “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch,” and the always-anticipated “12 Days of Christmas,” a CWT/NEMPAC Holiday Show staple that once again had the crowd clapping along.
Beyond the performances themselves, the Holiday Show continues to be a meaningful collaboration between Charlestown Working Theater and NEMPAC, offering young artists the opportunity to grow as performers while sharing their talents with the community. Year after year, this partnership creates a space where creativity flourishes and holiday traditions are joyfully renewed.
As the curtain closed on the ninth annual Holiday Show, Tales from the Snowkeep Library left audiences with full hearts, festive spirits, and a reminder of the magic that can be found when young performers, dedicated educators, and a supportive community come together. We’re already looking forward to celebrating again next year!
