NEMPAC is honored to be the recipient of a general operating grant from the Boston Cultural Council! This vital support fuels our expanding programs at the Charlestown Working Theater, helping us bring even more music, theater, and arts experiences to our community.

This year’s Boston Cultural Council grants were awarded to 100 small and midsize organizations across all areas of the arts. In total, the BCC distributed $915,000 in funds, supported by the City of Boston and the Mass Cultural Council.

As quoted on the BCC website, Mayor Michelle Wu says, “These organizations are the creative heartbeat of our neighborhoods—they connect communities, preserve cultural traditions, and make art accessible to everyone. They are essential to Boston’s incredible diversity, which is reflected in our cultural landscape. This investment recognizes that our smaller arts organizations are essential members of Boston’s cultural ecosystem and deserve robust support to continue their vital community-centered work.” Kenny Mascary, Interim Chief of the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture, adds, “Given the recent devastating and destructive federal funding cuts to arts organizations and DEI initiatives, this targeted funding for our smaller organizations is more important than ever. We are committed to finding new ways of continuing to support and elevate the creative sector in Boston.”

We thank the City of Boston and the Mayor’s Office of Arts and Culture for providing funding for many arts organizations across the city, and for recognizing the power of the arts to inspire and transform.
