With Doug Bowen-Flynn
When: May 11th, 2017
Time: 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
Where: I Am Books, 189 North Street, Boston
Do you like Shakespeare, but sometimes wish you had a viewing guide? Want to understand the play better as you watch it, and to join fellow adults for a fun evening of catered snacks and Shakespearean insight? Join NEMPAC for its ongoing lecture series on Shakespearean plays being performed in Boston! You will enjoy refreshments and camraderie with fellow theatre goers while Board member Doug Bowen-Flynn provides insights about A Midsummer Night’s Dream, soon to be performed in Boston by Actors’ Shakespeare Project from May 10 – June 4, Boston’s professional Shakespearean theatre company.
About A Midsummer Nights Dream: “The course of true love never did run smooth.” Dashed expectations force flummoxed lovers into the mystical wilderness where enchantment and confusion await, all for our gleeful benefit. “Let me play the lion too. I will roar that I will do any man’s heart good to hear me.” – Actors Shakespeare Project
Appetizers will be catered by Manda & Me.
Testimonials:
Doug brought Shakespeare to life for me! Having the historical context made a big difference to my understanding of the language, which I can find mysterious. Doug’s love of Shakespeare makes me want to give it another try – my last real exposure to Shakespeare was 25 years ago.
–Bethany Daily, audience member from 50 Shades of Shakespeare Event in May 2015.
Doug put on a hilarious, interactive show featuring Shakespeare and exploring his more *ahem* personal themes. He touched on bits of history and motivation that informed both seasoned and newbie Shakespeare fans. I look forward to having another drink with Doug and going deeper into the bawdy Bard.
