Genie Alvarado

Genie Alvarado is delighted to join the team as the 2025-26 Development Intern.

Genie studies Composition at New England Conservatory of Music with Stratis Minakakis and John Mallia, and is pursuing a minor in music theory with Katarina Miljkovic. Her rich performance background has informed her unique perspective on timbre, and has influenced her approach to the nuances in sounds. She is interested in incorporating movement and physicality into her compositions, and exploring its effects on sonorities.

At New England Conservatory, she is co-director of Tuesday Night New Music: a student-run concert series that offers a performance space for composers to have their pieces performed. She also is a member of the Musicians for Humanity club as its treasurer, as well as co-leader of its book club. She strongly believes in advancing accessibility in the arts, and is excited to contribute at NEMPAC!
