Sen Yoshimura

Sen Yoshimura is a saxophonist and composer from Japan. He received a full scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music. In May 2023, Sen launched his own band and released two singles. He led the production, composition, and arrangement of his debut single “A Year Later,” featuring esteemed artists, including Grammy nominated saxophonist Edmar Colón (Terri Lyne Carrington, John Patitucci) and flutist Sarpay Özçağatay (Arturo Sandoval, The 8-Bit Big Band). Soon after, he released his second single “Same Destination” collaborating with multiple Grammy Awarded artists such as Luis Perdomo (Miguel Zenón, Charlie Haden) on piano and Mark Walker (Oregon, Paquito D’Rivera) on drums.
Sen demonstrated an extraordinary level of musical achievement in one of the most famous. woodwind reed and mouthpiece maker Vandoren’s Emerging Artist competition, and was named an Honorable Mention winner among applicants from across the United States.Currently, he is a member of the “Berklee Global Jazz Institute (BGJI),” a sophisticated institute for professional performer’s education, led by world-famous Grammy awarded pianist and educator Danilo Pérez. In February 2024, he performed in the BGJI Big Band, alongside the featured artist Brian Blade, Danilo Pérez, John Patitucci, David Gilmore, celebrating the 15th years anniversary of the continuous success of the institute.
Furthermore, Sen performed the U.S. National Anthem and Japanese traditional song Sakura with renowned trumpeter and educator Tiger Okoshi at the Japanese Emperor’s Birthday Cerebration as a Japanese representative to aid in the national culture exchange among the American and Japanese people.
As an educator, Sen continues to teach private students, and he joined the Boston Music Project working in the Boston public Schools, alongside woodwind students. Also, he is a faculty member of Needham Music Ensemble School, where he teaches private lessons.
Sen has also performed with renowned saxophonist Miguel Zenón, showcasing repertoires from the influential contemporary jazz ensemble “SFJAZZ Collective.” Sen acknowledges world-renowned artists such as Edmar Colón, Godwin Louis, Mike Tucker, George Garzone, Miguel Zenón, Tiger Okoshi, Vadim Neselovskyi, and Leo Blanco among his mentors.
