Tawnee Maestas
Dance Instructor
Tawnee Maestas is a Southern California dancer, dance instructor, choreographer, and mentor. Starting at the age of 4, Tawnee’s training has been rooted in Jazz, Ballet, Hip-Hop, Musical Theater, and Acrobatics fundamentals and techniques. She has worked in the community, competitive, and professional dance industries on the East and West Coast for the past 10 years. Tawnee is a former Boston Celtics dancer for five seasons, two of which she served as Captain. While on the team she was selected as the 2017 NBA All-Star Dancer and represented the Boston Celtics in New Orleans, Louisiana. Throughout her career, she has performed in many exciting places including Italy and Spain. Some of her performance credits include DJ Khalid, Remy Ma, Tyga, Nick Jonas, and New Kids On The Block. In addition to performing, she is a lead choreographer in the industry working with NBA and NFL teams including the Boston Celtics, Portland Trail Blazers, Kansas City Chiefs, and Pro Action Dance.
She also collaborates, mentors, and works with various youth dance programs, local dance studios, arts initiatives, and non-profits throughout the city in partnership with the Boston Police Department. Tawnee has a deep passion for dance and is endlessly inspired by the students she teaches. She loves teaching the fundamentals of dance while making it fun and engaging.
Currently, she is the Founder and Creative Director of Move for More, a community arts-based dance initiative for adolescents that focuses on healing through the power of movement, dance education, and mindfulness practices. Her program strives to bring the power of dance, positivity, and community to under-resourced communities throughout the city of Boston.
She is so excited to be a part of the NEMPAC faculty and help foster growth and empower the next generation of dancers!
