NEMPAC’s Summer Singers took the stage on August 5th as the opening performers for the Boston Landmarks Orchestra, kicking off a special evening of music at the Hatch Shell!
In celebration of the evening’s performance of Verdi’s Requiem, our Summer Singers presented a beautiful and thoughtfully selected program that complemented the evening’s classical repertoire. Their performance featured “Dona Nobis Pacem”, “Evening Prayer” from Hansel and Gretel, “This Little Light of Mine”, and “Simple Gifts”—showcasing the group’s versatility, musicality, and joyful spirit.
Preparing for a performance of this scale was no small accomplishment. Our Summer Singers dedicated countless hours to rehearsals, learning their music, refining their harmonies, and working together as an ensemble. Their hard work and commitment truly paid off when they stepped onto the stage.
Beyond the music itself, opportunities like this allow our students to experience what it means to be part of Boston’s vibrant performing arts community. Performing alongside a professional orchestra gives young musicians the chance to build confidence, strengthen their performance skills, and share their talents with a wider audience.
We couldn’t be prouder of everything our Summer Singers accomplished. They represented NEMPAC wonderfully and demonstrated the talent, dedication, and collaborative spirit that make this program so special.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Boston Landmarks Orchestra for inviting our students to be part of such a memorable evening and for creating opportunities for young musicians to perform, grow, and connect with the community through music. We are grateful to have been part of this wonderful celebration of music and look forward to seeing where our Summer Singers’ musical journeys take them next!
