Distortion: Music for Violin and Electronics

Featuring NEMPAC faculty member and violinist, Brooks Berg, this concert will explore the genre of electroacoustic music. This program showcases the expressive range of the violin, enhanced by a wide variety of sounds and effects. Inspired by themes of isolation and surrealism, these compositions reference musical styles from baroque to folk. This concert features music written solely by female composers.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Hailing from Stillwater MN, violinist and pianist Brooks Berg is an enthusiastic performer and educator currently based in Boston MA. Mr. Berg maintains a varied performance career, having played as soloist, orchestral musician and chamber musician throughout the United States and Europe. As a proponent of new music, Mr. Berg has premiered works at Diffrazioni multimedia festival in Florence Italy, and NYC Electroacoustic Music Festival by composers from around the world. Aside from performing, Mr. Berg has held teaching positions at NYU Steinhardt and Boston University. Mr. Berg received his DMA from Boston University as a student of Bayla Keyes, and earned his MM and BA from New York University and Luther College respectively.
