In its thirteenth season, the NEMPAC Opera Project and the Boston Festival Orchestra presents a thrilling production of Orfeo’s Italian Baroque opera, Orfeo ed Euridice. In a sneak-peek preview entitled “Lust and Tragedy: Queer Representation in Opera and Greco-Roman Mythology,” library patrons in the North End will meet artists from the production, and enjoy a selection of songs and duets performed live from Gluck’s famous score. The event includes an interactive presentation that explores queer representation in opera and the classics, and how the production design elements in our interpretation will create a beautiful and nostalgic 90’s era gay club scene where music and community heals all wounds.
