Private & Group Music Instruction Policies:

PMI Policies- 2014-2015 Academic Year:

§ New Students: You may begin private music lessons at NEMPAC at any time. Please register online or by filling out our downloadable form on our website which you may mail or email to us. There is a $25 fee for registration for new students. You may elect to take a trial lesson before registering. A trial lesson is 30 minutes long. You must pay for this lesson as well as any additional lessons you register for in the current session. Trial lessons must be paid for before or at your lesson.

§ Returning Students: Returning students must re-register and pay by the registration deadline  of each session. 2014-2015 information will be on the NEMPAC website.

§ Make-up Lessons: As a group lesson is run under a class structor, there are no make up lessons offered. If you are away for a lesson you forgo that lesson. If the entire group is away ( as is sometimes the case with siblings, class trips, etc..) a make up lesson can be worked out. This is evaluated and arranged on a case-by-case basis.

– As our instructors are all professional musicians, sometimes they need to miss a lesson due to a performance. If an instructor misses a lesson, they will make up the lesson before the session is over.

Schedule: Private Lessons range from 8 – 12 weeks depending on the quarter (Summer, Fall, Winter, or Spring). We follow the BPS school calendar. ( Special scheduling is built in for our SJS students.) A full 2014-2015 academic calendar is available on our website by August 1st,2014. Please use this as a reference for NEMPAC holidays, etc..

Performances: Will be arranged by NEMPAC. Generally our classes with ages 4+ usually contain end of the session performances or showcases. We have two annual Private Music Instruction Recitals, one in December and one in June. All private music students are invited to perform. Outreach performances will also be scheduled throughout the academic year.

Lesson Location: Private Music Lessons are held at the NEMPAC Studio building on the Prado, at the after-school programs at the St. John Catholic School and the Eliot K-8 Innovation School. If you have a location question, please ask your instructor or Rebecca Rapoport-Cole.

Weather-Related Cancellations: If there is bad weather, please check your email or the NEMPAC website. Rebecca Rapoport-Cole will send all students an update on the status of lessons for that day. NEMPAC follows the Boston Public Schools snow day closure schedule.

Payments: Payment deadline will be available on the NEMPAC website. Invoices are sent electronically through our E-Invoice system. Payment may be made online through our website with credit card, or paid in cash or check. Failure to make a payment by the payment deadline will result in a $25 late fee and/or discontinuation of lessons or class enrollment.
